Calling someone oghdei online is a specific cultural move: it lifts the conversation out of the topic at hand and into the person's psychology. Diaspora Iranians use it about hardliners back home ("the regime runs on oghdei men"). Tehrani Iranians use it about the same hardliners and also about the diaspora liberals who lecture them ("the diaspora oghdei"). The word goes both ways. It's the favorite tool of Iranian Twitter for ending an argument by claiming the other person isn't really arguing, they're processing.
