What it means

خب (khob) is a colloquial reduction of خوب (khub, good). As an independent word خوب means good or well, but the shortened spoken form خب functions primarily as a discourse marker rather than a straightforward adjective. It opens a new thought (خب، بریم, khob barem, right, let’s go), signals that you have absorbed what was just said (خب، فهمیدم, khob fahmidam, okay, I get it), softens a gentle command (خب دیگه برو, khob digeh boro, okay, off you go now), or buys a second while the speaker organizes their next sentence. In all these uses tone and length matter: a drawn-out خب can express resigned acceptance or mild sarcasm.
