خوش گفتید (khosh goftid) is a polite affirmation meaning “well said” or “you put that nicely.” It is built from two pure Persian elements: خوش (khosh), meaning pleasant, nice, or well, and گفتید (goftid), the formal plural past tense of the verb گفتن (goftan), meaning to say. The phrase is used to praise someone for an apt remark, a well-chosen word, or a thoughtful observation. A synonym with a slightly more emphatic flavour is عالی گفتید (âli goftid), meaning “excellently said,” and a more colloquial alternative is خوب گفتی (khob gofti), using the informal second-person form.
