Compound verb structure
A شدن (shodan, “to become”) compound: دلتنگ (the adjective, literally “heart-tight”) + شدن. Conjugates by inflecting شدن, دلتنگ میشوم (I miss), دلتنگ شدم (I missed). Present stem: شو (shav); past stem: شد (shod). The image is physical: longing constricts the heart in the chest. Persian poetry returns to دلتنگی as the signature emotion of separation.
