برکت
/ barakat /
noun · blessing, abundance
Meaning
معنی۱
Barakat sits at the seam between religion and economics in Iranian life. It is the reason an Iranian host insists you eat a third helping: refusing the food refuses the barakat. It is why bread that falls on the floor gets kissed and placed on a high shelf rather than thrown out. It is why grandmothers murmur بسمالله (bismillâh) before opening a sack of rice or starting to count cash.
