درس نخوندم (dars nakhondam), "I didn't study," is an Iranian student rite of passage, said both as honest confession and as ritual humblebrag the morning of an exam. Half the kids saying it have studied for hours; the phrase is partly a hedge against the evil eye, partly a way to manage expectations.
