میشه

verb  ·  becomes/possible (spoken) vs mishavad

Meaning

معنی
۱

Persian builds polite requests with میشه the way English builds them with "can you" or "could you." میشه پنجره رو ببندی؟ ("can you close the window?") is gentler than the imperative ببند, and it is the default move in any social situation where a direct order would feel rough. Pair it with لطفاً ("please") for extra softening. The same میشه powers the everyday philosophical "is it possible?" in stand-alone form, which Iranians often deliver with raised eyebrows when somebody proposes the impossible. Native speakers also chain میشه with subjunctive verbs to soften suggestions: میشه یه فکری کنی؟ ("could you think about it?") sounds far more polite than the bare imperative, and it is the kind of move learners pick up after a few months in Tehran.
