What it means
شدم (shodam) means “I became” or “I got.” It is the 1st-person singular past tense of شدن (shodan), “to become.” Persian uses shodan constantly where English would use “got,” “turned,” or even nothing at all.
How to use it
- خسته شدم (khaste shodam) “I got tired”
- عاشقش شدم (âsheqesh shodam) “I fell in love with him/her”
- دیر شدم (dir shodam) “I’m late” (literally “I became late”)
- ناراحت شدم (nârâhat shodam) “I got upset”
