کف خواب

What it means

کف خواب (kaf-khâb) literally means “floor-sleep.” In slang it has two live senses: (1) dead tired, so exhausted you could collapse on the floor; and (2) in car culture, a slammed or lowered car that sits close to the ground.

How to use it

• کف خواب شدم، دیگه نمی‌تونم چشمامو باز نگه دارم (kaf-khâb shodam, dige nemitunam cheshmâmo bâz negah dâram) “I am dead on my feet, I can’t keep my eyes open.”
• عجب کف‌خوابیه! (ajab kaf-khâbiye!) “What a slammed car!”
• از بس کار کردم کف خوابم (az bas kâr kardam kaf-khâbam) “I worked so much I am wiped out.”
• ماشینشو کف خواب کرده (mâshinesho kaf-khâb karde) “He has lowered his car to the ground.”

Cultural note

The exhaustion sense is the most common in everyday speech; the car sense belongs to the lowered-car youth subculture.
