Quick Reference
Anything for you (term of endearment)
B1 — Intermediate

What it means

فدات (fadât) is short for فدات بشم (fadât besham), literally “may I be sacrificed for you.” It is a warm term of endearment, roughly “anything for you” or “you mean everything to me.” It sits in the same family as قربونت برم (ghorbunet beram) and جیگرتو بخورم.

How to use it

  • ممنون از کمکت. فدات. (mamnun az komakat. fadât.) “Thanks for your help.” “Anything for you.”
  • فدات بشم که اینقدر زحمت کشیدی (fadât besham ke inghadr zahmat keshidi) “Bless you for all the trouble you took.”
  • سلام فدات، خوبی؟ (salâm fadât, khubi?) “Hi dear, you good?”
  • فدات بشم، بذار برم بخوابم (fadât besham, bezâr beram bekhâbam) “Please, let me go to sleep.”

Cultural note

Affectionate and very common in texting because it is short. Historically it could sound feminine between men and carried some street subtext, but in current everyday use it is broadly warm across genders.
