Listen at any Tehran fruit stall: do tâ khiyâr, panj tâ gowje, ye kilo angur ("two cucumbers, five tomatoes, one kilo of grapes"). Note the kilo measurement skips tâ (mass nouns do not take it). Drop tâ in conversation and you sound like a textbook chapter, not a customer.
