Nârâhat is the everyday cover word for hurt feelings, and Iranians use it preventively. "Nârâhat nashi az haram" (don't be upset by what I'm about to say) is the standard preface to bad news. It also means physically uncomfortable: "in sandali nârâhate" (this chair is uncomfortable). The nâ- prefix is the Persian negative; râhat keeps its Arabic root.
