What it means
حاجآقا مسالتون (hâj-âghâ masâlton, properly مسئلتون) is a meme catchphrase from the 2004 film مارمولک (The Lizard). In it, a young man keeps pestering a thief disguised as a cleric with endless religious questions. Online it is quoted to mean “what is your question now?” or “what is your problem?”, aimed at someone who will not stop nagging or interrogating.
How to use it
- باز اومدی؟ حاج آقا مسئلتون! (bâz umadi? hâj âghâ mas’alton!) “You are back again? What is your question this time, sir!”
- حاج آقا یه سوال داشتم (hâj âghâ ye soâl dâshtam) “Sir, I had a question.” (the original line)
- used as an ironic caption when someone keeps complaining or asking.
Cultural note
From مارمولک (dir. Kamal Tabrizi, 2004), one of the most quoted Iranian comedies. The phrase is alive on Instagram and Aparat and even ran as a newspaper headline.
