Beginners use بله and نه; intermediate learners pile on phrases; fluent speakers slip اصلاً into a sentence and the whole register lifts. Pair it with نه, با هیچ‌کس, or هیچ‌وقت for stronger denials. Misplaced, it sounds like a textbook recitation; correctly placed, it sounds like Tehran. The word also surfaces in a popular conversational rhetorical move: a speaker frames a topic, then circles back with اصلاً ولش کن ("just drop it altogether"), which signals they are done debating and ready to move on. That gesture is harder to translate than the dictionary gloss suggests, and it is the kind of move learners pick up only after dozens of real conversations.
