شانس

شانس is one of the youngest common words in Persian. It came in with French education, French cinema, and French pastries during the late Qajar and early Pahlavi periods, when Persian middle-class speech absorbed dozens of French loanwords (مرسی mersi, آسانسور âsânsor "elevator," اتوبوس otobus, کافه kâfe). The word's modernity gives it a lighter feel.
