پدربزرگ

The Iranian grandfather is, classically, the family's anchor: the keeper of stories, the host of Friday lunches, the recipient of phone calls every other day from grandchildren scattered across the country or abroad. Three-generation households often revolve around the پدربزرگ's chair at the head of the sofreh (سفره, the meal cloth spread on the floor), and the rhythm of the week is set by his routines: morning tea, afternoon news, evening prayer or Hafez reading.
