نوروز
/ nowrūz /
noun · Persian New Year
Meaning
معنی۱
Nowruz traces back to at least the 6th century BCE Achaemenid Empire, with deeper roots in Zoroastrian renewal symbolism. The haft-sīn table sets out seven items whose Persian names begin with the letter سـ (s), each standing for rebirth, prosperity, or health. UNESCO inscribed Nowruz on its Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2009, recognizing it as a shared festival across more than a dozen countries. It is the rare Iranian holiday that has survived every regime change (Sasanian, Arab, Turkic, Mongol, Safavid, Qajar, Pahlavi, Islamic Republic) without losing its name or its date.
