What it means
کش مرورگر (kesh-e morurgar) means “browser cache,” the temporary storage a web browser uses to save copies of images, scripts, and pages so they load faster on your next visit. کش is borrowed from English “cache,” and مرورگر is a Persian compound: مرور (morur) comes from the Arabic root meaning to pass through or browse, and گر is a native Persian agent suffix meaning one who does, so مرورگر means browser, literally “the one who browses.” The overall compound is mixed in origin. A close related phrase is حافظه پنهان (hâfeze-ye penhân), a more formal synonym meaning hidden memory, though کش مرورگر is the practical term most users encounter in browser settings.
How to use it
- کش مرورگرت رو پاک کن. (kesh-e morurgarat ro pâk kon.) “Clear your browser cache.”
- سایت درست لود نمیشه، کش رو خالی کن. (sâit dorost lod nemishe, kesh ro khâli kon.) “The site isn’t loading right, empty the cache.”
- بعد از پاک کردن کش مرورگر مشکل حل شد. (ba’d az pâk kardan-e kesh-e morurgar moshkel hal shod.) “After clearing the browser cache the problem was fixed.”
- کش مرورگر فضای زیادی گرفته. (kesh-e morurgar fazâ-ye ziâdi gerafte.) “The browser cache is taking up a lot of space.”
Cultural note
“Clear your cache” is one of the most common pieces of tech support advice Iranians give each other, especially because slow connections and frequent VPN use can make stale cached content a visible problem. Tech support channels on Telegram, which is enormously popular in Iran, regularly post step-by-step guides for clearing the کش مرورگر on Chrome, Firefox, and mobile browsers. The word کش, borrowed from English, is fully naturalized and causes no confusion even among less technical users.
