noun · grandchild
Meaning
معنی۱
The grandparent-grandchild bond in Iranian families runs deep. Three-generation households are common: کارگاه نوهداری (kârgâh-e nave-dâri), "the workshop of grandchild-raising," is a half-joking phrase for the shared task many Iranian grandparents take on while parents work. Grandparents regularly raise grandchildren during weekdays, school holidays, or while parents are abroad. The relationship is direct, not formal: a نوه calls پدربزرگ "baba-jun" or "baba-bozorg" and مادربزرگ "maman-jun" or "bibi," and the bond is one of the most emotionally protected in Iranian life.
