مسجد

/ masjed /
noun  ·  mosque

Meaning

معنی
۱

From Arabic مسجد (masjid), the noun of place from سجد (sajada, "to prostrate"), root س ج د. Literally "the place of prostration." Persian Iran is famous for some of Islam's most beautiful mosques: مسجد شیخ لطف‌الله (Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque) in Isfahan with its peacock-tail dome, مسجد امام (Imam Mosque) in Isfahan, and the gold-domed مسجد گوهرشاد (Goharshad Mosque) in Mashhad. Tile mosaic, calligraphy, and the geometric muqarnas vaults define Persian-Islamic architectural heritage.
