خوش

Khosh is the Iranian compliment-builder. Telling someone they have خوش‌سلیقه (khosh-saliqe, good taste) flatters more than "bâ-saliqe." The greeting خوش آمدید is non-negotiable when a guest crosses your threshold, repeated by every adult in the room. Older Iranians still say "khosh bâshid" (be well) at parting.
