گریه

What it means

گریه (gerye) means “crying,” “weeping,” or “tears.” Foundational pure-Persian vocabulary, paired with خنده (laughter) as the two poles of emotional expression.

• گریه نکن (gerye nakon) “don’t cry”
• گریه‌ام گرفت (gerye-am gereft) “I started to cry”
• صدای گریه‌ی بچه (sedâ-ye gerye-ye bachche) “the sound of the child’s crying”
