What Is Fastdic?

Fastdic is a free Chrome extension that provides instant Persian-English dictionary lookups. Select or hover over a Persian word on any webpage, and a popup shows the translation. It's designed for learners who read Persian content online (news, social media, blogs) and need quick translations without switching to a dictionary tab.

What Works

The speed is the point. Double-click a Persian word, get the English translation instantly. No tab switching, no copy-paste to Google Translate. When you're reading a Persian news article or Instagram caption, this keeps you in the flow rather than breaking concentration for every unknown word.

The dictionary database is decent for common vocabulary. Definitions are concise and usually accurate. The extension is lightweight and doesn't slow down your browser.

Where It Falls Short

Complex words, compound verbs, and colloquial forms often aren't recognized. Persian compound verbs (like "kâr kardan" or "gush dâdan") need to be looked up as phrases, and the extension treats each word separately. This is a fundamental limitation for Persian, where compound verbs are the backbone of the language.

No audio pronunciation, no example sentences, no conjugation info. It's a bare-bones dictionary popup. And it only works in Chrome, limiting users of other browsers.

Who Should Use This

Learners at A2+ who read Persian content online regularly. Anyone who follows Iranian social media or news. Not useful if you're not actively reading Persian text on the web.

The Verdict

Fastdic is a small tool that solves a specific problem well. If you read Persian online, install it. The compound verb limitation is real but not a dealbreaker. Think of it as training wheels for Persian reading comprehension. As your vocabulary grows, you'll need it less.
