گبه
گبه (gabbe) is a thick, shaggy tribal rug woven by Qashqai, Luri, and Bakhtiari nomads of southern Iran. The word’s etymology is uncertain, and the rug is named for its characteristically long, unclipped pile.
کیلیم
کیلیم (kilim) is a flat-woven rug with no pile, woven across Iran, Turkey, and Central Asia. The Persian form گلیم (gelim) and the Aramaic גלימא (galīmā) are both descended from the Ancient Greek word for cover.
گلدوزی
گلدوزی (gol-duzi) means floral embroidery in Persian: sewing flower and plant motifs onto fabric with coloured thread. Both گل (flower) and دوزی (sewing) are pure Persian words.
سوزندوزی
سوزندوزی (suzan-duzi) means embroidery or needlework in Persian. Both elements, suzan (needle) and duzi (sewing), are pure Persian, making this one of the language’s oldest craft terms.
میناکاری
میناکاری (minâ-kâri) is the Persian art of enamelling: painting vivid colours onto copper or silver and firing them in a kiln. مینا (minâ) is borrowed from Arabic, while کاری (kâri) is a pure Persian suffix for craft.
خاتمکاری
خاتمکاری (khâtam-kâri) is the Persian art of marquetry: intricate geometric patterns inlaid in wood using tiny triangles of wood, bone, and metal. A UNESCO-listed craft from Isfahan.
