بادمجان دور قاب چین

Bâdemjân-e dor-e qâb chin literally means “the eggplant arranged around the platter.” Figuratively, a sycophant or yes-man who shapes themselves to please whoever is in charge. B1 idiom, sharp social barb.

دوست

Doost means friend. Pure Persian, neutral register. Pairs with the Arabic loan refiq for slightly more formal tone. Source of the verb doost dâshtan, to love.

کلاس

Kelâs means class: the school period, the grade level, or the classroom itself. A loanword from French via Russian, fully naturalized in modern Persian. A1 foundation.

زمستان

Zemestân means winter, the cold season. Runs from late December to late March. Anchors Yalda night and the forty-day chele cold spell.

پاییز

Pâyiz means autumn, the third Iranian season. Runs from late September to late December. The season of colored leaves, school restart, and the long countdown to Yalda.

تابستان

Tâbestân means summer, the hottest of the four Iranian seasons. Runs roughly from June 22 to September 22 and anchors the Iranian beach-and-mountain getaway tradition.

بهار

Bahâr means spring, the season. In Iran spring begins on Nowruz, March 21, the Persian new year. Foundation A1 word with deep cultural anchor.

دریا

Daryâ means sea. Foundation A1 vocabulary referring to the Caspian and the Persian Gulf, the two seas that frame Iran. Also a common given name for women.

ستاره

Setâre means star. Foundation A1 vocabulary used for actual stars, celebrities, and ratings. Carries weight in Persian poetry and astronomy heritage.

آسمان
