What it means
مجوز (mojavvez) comes from Arabic مجوَّز (mujawwaz), the passive participle of the verb جوّز meaning to allow or to permit, from the root ج-و-ز. In Persian it functions as a noun meaning a permit, license, or official authorisation. It is a formal word used in legal, commercial, and government contexts. A close synonym is پروانه (parvane), which also means a license or permit and is slightly more common in some contexts such as پروانه کسب (parvane-ye kasb, business license). مجوز tends to appear more in regulatory and media contexts.
