What it means
ملودی (melodi) means melody, the organized sequence of musical notes that forms the main tune of a piece. The word entered Persian through French mélodie, which derives from Greek melos (tune) combined with ode (song). In everyday Persian, ملودی is used very naturally for any memorable tune: the main line of a pop song, a film soundtrack theme, or a whistled phrase. It overlaps with آهنگ (âhang) in some contexts, though ملودی more specifically highlights the sequence of notes rather than the song as a whole.
