کلیسا

From Greek ἐκκλησία (ekklēsia, "assembly, congregation"). Christianity reached Iran during the Parthian period, and its Christian communities today include Armenians, Assyrians and Chaldeans. The کلیسای وانک (Vank Cathedral) in New Julfa, Isfahan, was founded in 1606 by Armenians whom Shah Abbas forcibly resettled from Julfa to Isfahan. Iran's constitution recognizes Christians as a religious minority (Article 13) and reserves parliamentary seats for Armenian, Assyrian and Chaldean Christians (Article 64).
