احسان

Ehsân is more than kindness. In Islamic ethics it sits at the top of three levels: islâm (submission), imân (faith), and ehsân (acting as if you see God, or as if God sees you). The word is heavy with this layer for religious Iranians. The Quranic phrase والاحسان (wa-l-ehsân) and the saying ان الله یحب المحسنین ("God loves those who do ehsân") are quoted in religious speech and on calligraphy hung in homes.
