What it means
برزیل (Barazil) is the Persian name for the South American country Brazil. The word is borrowed directly from the Portuguese name “Brasil,” which is thought to derive from “brasa” (ember or glowing coal), a reference to the vivid red color of brazilwood, a valuable timber that drove early European trade with the region. Persian has no native equivalent, so the borrowed form is used universally. The adjective form is برزیلی (Barazili), meaning Brazilian.
