Farsi Classes in Dubai: Choose for Work or Conversation
Farsi classes in Dubai reviewed: language centres, private tutors, and online options compared. Why Arabic won't help you, and what business Persian actually sounds like.
If you are choosing Farsi classes in Dubai, start with your goal: business conversations, family visits or reading.
Ask whether the course practices the conversations you need, rather than assuming that familiarity with the script is enough.
For business conversations, compare spoken practice as well as reading and writing.
Learning Goals in Dubai
Choose the situations you want to handle in Persian before choosing a class.
Business learners can ask for practice with prices, orders and delivery terms.
If your goal is conversation, ask for listening and speaking practice alongside written materials.
A course description should make clear which skills and situations it covers.
Arabic and Persian: Familiar Script, Different Language
Familiar letters do not make the two languages interchangeable.
Persian uses an adapted Arabic script (with four extra letters in Persian: پ, چ, ژ, گ). Persian has borrowed words from Arabic, but shared spelling does not guarantee identical usage.
The vocabulary trap: Check how each borrowed word is used in Persian. Do not infer the meaning of a whole sentence from familiar words alone.
The grammar trap: Arabic grammar is Semitic: root-based, with verb forms built on three-consonant roots. Persian grammar is Indo-European, more similar to English or French than to Arabic. Study Persian verb conjugation, sentence structure and prepositions on their own terms.
The pronunciation trap: These shared letters have different pronunciation patterns in Arabic and Persian (ع, ح, ص, ض, ط, ظ). Practice the Persian pronunciation of borrowed words.
Treat Persian as a language with its own grammar and pronunciation.
What to Ask Before Enrolling
Private language centres: Ask whether Persian is currently offered, whether it covers formal written Persian, how many learners share the class, and how much speaking time each learner gets.
University and institute courses: Check current availability, entry requirements, assessment and the qualification awarded.
Community and cultural centre classes: Ask whether a class is for adult beginners or heritage learners, and whether it is running this term.
Private tutors: Ask about teaching experience and request a sample activity relevant to your goal.
The Register Gap in a Business Context
The ketabi/mahavere divide is explained in the linked guide. Ask which register your class practices.
Ask whether lessons cover both ketabi Persian and mahavere, including numbers, prices and delivery terms for business conversations.
For business practice, include the conversations you expect to have with customers or colleagues.
What Actually Works for Learners in Dubai
If you are an Arabic speaker learning Persian: Ask for help with Persian pronunciation and grammar. Check comprehension rather than relying on familiar letters.
If you are learning for business: Ask whether group classes or individual lessons can include commercial vocabulary, numbers and business conversation. Practice by listening, with permission, to how your Iranian colleagues conduct phone calls. Use those conversations to identify vocabulary to practice.
If you are learning for a relationship: Ask which variety your partner's family speaks, and whether the class practices that variety alongside everyday spoken Persian. The beginner's guide covers the early stages.

Get it wrong and the worst that happens is a warm laugh and a story they’ll tell for years. Get it right — refuse the tea twice, accept on the third — and you’ll watch a face open up. You didn’t just speak Persian. You played the game.
