What it means
نوشیدن (nushidan) means “to drink” in formal register. In casual Tehrani conversation, Iranians usually say خوردن (khordan, literally “to eat”) for both eating and drinking. Nushidan stays on menus, in poetry, and in polite hosting.
How to use it
- چای مینوشم (chây minusham) “I am drinking tea” (formal)
- چه مینوشید؟ (che minushid?) “What will you drink?” (host’s polite question)
- آب نوشیدم (âb nushidam) “I drank water” (formal/written)
