What it means
درآمد (darâmad) is a pure Persian verbal noun formed from the prefix در (dar, “in”) and آمد (âmad, the past stem of آمدن, “to come”). The literal sense is “what has come in,” and the financial meaning follows naturally: income, earnings, revenue. Unlike حقوق (hoquq), which is specifically a salary from an employer, درآمد is broader and covers any source of money coming in, including freelance work, rent from a property, sales, or a side business. The closest English parallel is “income” rather than “wages.”
