What it means
آموزش (âmuzesh) means education, training, or instruction. It is a pure Persian abstract noun built from the root of آموختن (âmukhtan, to learn or to teach) by adding the nominalizing suffix ش (-esh). The word covers a wide range: formal schooling at any level, on-the-job training, and the general process of imparting a skill. A useful contrast is پرورش (parvaresh), which means upbringing or nurturing of character rather than instruction. Together the two words appear in the official name of Iran’s Ministry of Education, وزارت آموزشوپرورش (Vezârat-e Âmuzesh va Parvaresh).

Education holds a central place in Iranian culture, rooted in a long tradition of valuing scholarship in both Islamic and pre-Islamic Persian history.
