What it means
هیجانزده (hayajân-zade) means excited, thrilled, or worked up in a positive or intense way. It is formed by combining هیجان, which comes from the Arabic هَيَجَان meaning agitation, arousal, or excitement, with the Persian participial suffix زده (zade), meaning struck by or hit by. So the word literally means struck by excitement. It is used neutrally, and the context usually makes clear whether the excitement is joyful, nervous, or simply intense. A natural synonym is ذوقزده (zogh-zade), though هیجانزده can cover a wider range of stimulation, including anxiety.

In Persian media and film, the word often describes the reaction of a contestant, a fan, or someone receiving unexpected news, covering the full range from giddy happiness to nervous anticipation.
