What it means
موجودی (mojudi) means the amount currently present, most commonly the balance in a bank account or the inventory in a shop. It comes from the Arabic root وجد (wajada), meaning to find or to exist, through the adjective موجود (mojud), meaning present or available. The suffix ی turns it into the noun form: what is available, what is on hand. In banking contexts it means account balance. In retail and warehouse contexts it means stock or inventory. The contrast to know is that موجودی حساب (mojudi-ye hesâb) is your current bank balance, while اعتبار (e’tebâr) refers to credit or loan capacity.

- موجودی حسابم کمه. (Mojudi-ye hesâbam kame.) “My account balance is low.”
- موجودی رو چطور چک کنم؟ (Mojudi ro chetour chek konam?) “How do I check the balance?”

Cultural note
In Iran, checking موجودی حساب is most often done through a bank’s short-dial SMS code or through the bank’s mobile app, as each major bank provides its own USSD or SMS service. Bank SMS notifications after every transaction automatically report the new موجودی, which Iranians call پیامک موجودی (peyâmak-e mojudi). Because inflation and currency fluctuation are daily realities, many Iranians check their balance more frequently than people in more stable economies, making موجودی a word heard in ordinary conversation with notable regularity.
