What it means
انتقال (enteqâl) means transfer, the movement of money from one bank account to another. The word comes from Arabic, built on the root نقل (naql), meaning to move, carry, or transport. انتقال is the Form VIII verbal noun (وزن افتعال) of that root, meaning the action of moving something. In banking it refers specifically to fund transfers: انتقال وجه (enteqâl-e vajh, funds transfer) is the formal term you will see on bank screens and transfer forms. A close synonym in everyday spoken Persian is حواله (havâle), which often refers to a more formal bank order or remittance, while انتقال is the general term for any transfer of funds between accounts.

- انتقال انجام شد، شماره پیگیری داری. (Enteqâl anjâm shod, shomâre-ye peygiri dâri.) “Transfer completed, you have a tracking number.”
Cultural note
Interbank transfers in Iran run through the Shetâb (شتاب) network, which connects all licensed Iranian banks and allows near-instant transfers around the clock. The word انتقال appears on every ATM menu and every banking app under the transfer option. Because Iran operates largely outside SWIFT due to international sanctions, domestic انتقال through Shetâb is the backbone of the financial system, handling everything from splitting a restaurant bill to paying corporate invoices. The tracking code issued after a transfer, called شماره پیگیری (shomâre-ye peygiri), is the proof of payment Iranians routinely send to each other via message.
