What it means
سردرگم (sardargom) is a compound adjective built from three pure Persian parts: سر (sar, head) + در (dar, in) + گم (gom, lost). Together they paint a vivid picture: your head is lost inside something, you cannot find the way out. The feeling is specifically mental bewilderment, not physical dizziness, which separates it from گیج (gij). Sardargom is appropriate in everyday conversation, journalism, and informal writing; it sits comfortably in the neutral register without sounding too bookish or too slangy. A synonym with a slightly stronger desperate edge is سرگردان (sargardân), which implies wandering without direction rather than being stuck inside confusion.
