What it means
پینگپنگ (ping-pong) means “table tennis” or “ping-pong.” The word entered Persian from English, where it is onomatopoeic: ping and pong imitate the sound the ball makes when it bounces between the paddle and the table. The formal Persian equivalent is تنیس روی میز (tenis-e ruye miz), meaning “tennis on the table,” which appears in official sports contexts, while پینگپنگ is the everyday spoken form. Both terms are understood without confusion, but پینگپنگ is by far the more natural choice in casual conversation.
