پذیرش (paziresh) is a verbal noun formed from the native Persian verb پذیرفتن (paziroftan), meaning “to accept” or “to receive.” In everyday life it refers to the reception desk or front desk at a hotel, hospital, or office, and also to the act of checking in. It is a formal word but appears in common spoken contexts wherever you deal with an official counter. A close functional synonym in hotel contexts is فرانت دسک (front desk), a recent English borrowing, though پذیرش remains the preferred term in signage and formal speech.

Cultural note
In Iranian hotels and guesthouses, the پذیرش counter is where guests present their national ID or passport, since Iranian law requires ID registration for all guests. Hotel staff at the paziresh are expected to be formal and courteous, and it is common to greet them with سلام and a brief pleasantry before stating your business. The word also appears widely in medical settings, where پذیرش refers to patient admissions, so travelers visiting clinics will encounter it in that sense too.
