What it means
فندک (fandak) means a lighter, the small handheld device used to produce a flame. Unlike many household words that arrived from Arabic or French, فندک is a native Persian word with no confirmed loanword ancestry. Its closest functional counterpart is کبریت (kebrit), matches, though a فندک is reusable and needs no striking surface.
