What it means
اصلاح کردن (eslâh kardan) literally means to correct or to set right, but in everyday Persian it is the standard term for shaving or grooming, especially trimming a beard, mustache, or hair at a barbershop. The noun اصلاح (eslâh) is borrowed from Arabic, where it carries the sense of correction or reform. Persians extended this to grooming: tidying up one’s appearance. The verb is formed by adding the native Persian light verb کردن (kardan, to do), making it a mixed Arabic-Persian compound. An آرایشگاه (ârâyeshgâh) is where you go to get اصلاح done.
