What it means
بُرد (bord) means a win, a victory, or a winning outcome. It is a native Persian noun derived directly from the verb بردن (bordan), which means to carry, to take, or to win. The same root gives you برنده (barandeh, the winner) and باخت (bakht, the loss, from the opposite verb باختن, to lose). In everyday speech بُرد is the go-to word when a team or player wins: simple, direct, and fully native. Its natural contrast is باخت (bakht, a loss) and its more formal synonym is پیروزی (pirouzi, victory), which carries a slightly grander, more literary tone.

بُرد and باخت form one of the most natural pairs in spoken Persian, the equivalent of win-and-loss, and any sports fan uses them constantly.
